A Rosary Bracelet is a one decade or full five decade rosary worn around the wrist usually as an inspirational piece of Jewelry. The rosary bracelet beads are strung on a chain or leather band or even on a durable elastic cord which allows for easy on and off access, as the true function of a rosary bracelet is to be handy and available when a person wishes to say the Rosary. Rosary Bracelets are more popular with women but men’s rosary bracelets seem to be gaining ground as more men wear get exposed to them. In the Catholic faith, the rosary is a set of prayers consisting of usually ten or more “Our Fathers” ( the Lord’s Prayer) each of which is followed by a set of ten Hail Mary’s. In praying the rosary on a rosary bracelet, the ten beads are usually there only once and they represent the ten sets of ten beads most commonly found on an actual rosary. Other religions have adapted the term rosary, and even rosary bracelets, into their jargon and use but there is no doubt about their origins in Catholicism. Over time the tradition of the Rosary has taken on new, more complex and longer prayers than before, including various Papal directive that each decade of the Rosary be combined with meditation on one of the Mysteries of the Rosary. Some Catholic organizations add the Fatima Prayer as a culmination to the Rosary or even say it at the end of each decade. Other groups include Glory Be to the Father in the sequence. Modifications to the praying of the Rosary have derived in part from the Virgin Mary’s various appearances to children as has happened numerous times over now many decades. Her appearance to the three Fatima children in 1917 on the 13th day of six consecutive months was accompanied by revelations concerning the forthcoming world wars and the affects of communism on the Catholic population, among others. The children described her beautiful Rosary, made of pearls, in their telling of the apparition and pearl rosary bracelets, or rosary bracelets with a single pearl as the final bead have come about as a result. Like the Rosary itself, Rosary bracelets tend to be a rather serious statement of religious faith. Rosary bracelets, therefore, are not commonly worn so much as decoration, or even declaration, as a cross might be worn; but are most often worn as a functioning, utilitarian item which assists the wearer in his or her prayers. Some Rosary bracelets are more decorative, even using crystal beads as separation between the decades or, as mentioned, Pearls. Men’s Rosary bracelets are more commonly plain, perhaps sandalwood or olivewood beads on leather or elastic chord. Catholic and Christian religious jewelry can be found on gracemary.com at very reasonable prices and may even benefit various Catholic charities.
